WORKSHOP ON CAREER COUNSELLING
By - Jaya Tiwari
21st April 2026, Universal Public School
A career counselling workshop was organized by Universal Public School for the students of
Class XII to guide them in making informed career decisions. The session was headed by
Miss Aditi Sharma, Head of the Career Division, a CUET expert, and a gold medalist in her
graduation. With her 8–9 years of experience in counselling, she brought valuable insights
into career planning and decision-making.
The workshop began with an introduction where Miss Sharma shared her professional
journey and emphasized the importance of exploring internships alongside studies from
Class XI onwards. She highlighted how early exposure helps students stand out and better
understand their interests. She also assured students that the session would provide them
with a clear roadmap for the next seven months to secure admission into a good university.
To make the session interactive, she asked thought-provoking questions like whether
students would pursue the same job lifelong if offered a large sum of money. This helped
students reflect on the difference between passion and financial motivation. Many students
responded thoughtfully, realizing that career satisfaction is not solely dependent on income.
The main session focused on the concept of “Find Your Fit”, where students were
encouraged to identify their strengths, interests, and skills. Through a series of questions,
she emphasized that skills play a crucial role in achieving long-term success in any field.
She further explained the difference between traditional and new-age careers. Traditional
careers such as doctor and engineer were described as stable but slower in innovation and
pay growth, whereas new-age careers like data scientist and content creator offer higher
innovation and faster growth for skilled individuals, though with moderate stability.Miss
Sharma stressed the importance of timely planning and warned students about the
consequences of delaying it, such as missing entrance exam deadlines, losing momentum,
and increased pressure. She pointed out that a significant percentage of students miss
opportunities every year due to lack of planning. The session also highlighted the importance
of time management and choosing the right college. She explained that good colleges
ensure quality education, strong faculty, competitive environment, good placements, and
brand value. Students were guided to categorize colleges into dream, reach, and safe
options for better planning. While discussing management careers, she introduced the
concept of the four P’s that is Pervasive, Prestige, Pay, and Power, explaining the wide
scope and benefits of the field. She concluded her guidance with the 3P Rule that is Plan,
Prepare, and Perform, encouraging students to stay focused and disciplined. The workshop
ended with an engaging doubt-clearing session where students actively participated and
clarified their queries.
The key benefits for students attending this workshop were that the session provided clarity
on various career options available after Class XII. Students received expert guidance from
an experienced career counsellor. It helped in early identification of gaps in planning and
preparation.
The workshop proved to be highly informative and impactful. It not only guided students in
choosing the right career path but also motivated them to plan ahead and take informed
decisions. The interactive nature of the session made it engaging and insightful, leaving
students with a clearer vision for their future.
