Adverbial time clauses
An adverbial time clause is a type of subordinate clause, linked to a main clause, which
adds extra information to the main clause about time.
We dont use will in a clause with a time conjunction (e.g. before, until, when) to
talk i) about the future or ii) about a completed action before another action in the
main clause:
i) I´d like to have something more substantial before I leave home in the morning.
ii) When I´ve written up my report, I´ll let you have a copy.
Adverbial time clauses
We can use as, when or while to talk about something that happens when
something else takes place.
In this case below, as can either mean “because” or “during the time that”.
I generally have a sandwich and a packet of crisps as / when / while I am sitting at my desk
I opened the window as I was cooking.
