AP 3-D Art and Design

The AP 3-D Art and Design course corresponds to the equivalent of a one-semester, introductory college course in 3-D Art
and Design respectively. Students create a portfolio of work to demonstrate inquiry through art and design and
development of materials, processes, and ideas over the course of a year. Portfolios include works of art and design, process
documentation, and written information about the work presented. In May, students submit portfolios for evaluation based
on specific criteria, which include skillful synthesis of materials, processes, and ideas and sustained investigation through
practice, experimentation, and revision, guided by questions. Students may choose to submit any or all of the AP
Portfolio Exams.
A digital camera or camera phone/device are required. Limited school cameras are available for loan. This course requires a
lab fee.
Students will be able to:
● Conduct a sustained investigation through practice, experimentation, and revision, guided by questions;
Skillfully synthesize materials, processes, and ideas; and Articulate, in writing, information about one’s

COURSE POLICIES AND REQUIREMENTS
GRADING
Cumulative/In-Progress Grade:
● 10% of the grade will be based on formative assessments, homework completion, or behavior
(see FPS BOE Policy 6154AR)
● 90% will be based on summative assessments based on a minimum of eight assessments (see FPS
BOE Policy 6146AR)
End-of-the-Year Grade:
● 80% of the overall course grade will reflect the student’s mastery of course content and skills during
the school year through the Cumulative/In-Progress Grade.
● 10% of the End-of-the-Year course grade will be based on the Mid-Year Assessment
