ITEM 1 MAT 0056 Diagnostic
The cluster reviewed and made a few changes to the 15 question diagnostic for MAT
0056. The diagnostic would be given the first day of class. The cluster agreed that any
exempt student who scores 90% or better should be transferred to MAT 1033. Any
student that doesn’t do well on the first six questions should be transferred to MAT 0022.
ITEM 2 MAT 0022 / MAT 0056 Exam Format
The current MAT 0022 final exam format is 20 multiple choice and 10 short answer
questions. The cluster agreed to change the MAT 0022 final exam format to 25 short
answer questions. The cluster also agreed to change the MAT 0056 final exam format
from 25 short answer problems to 20 short answer problems.
The MAT 0022 / MAT 0056 test format will remain the same (5 multiple choice and 15
short answer questions). There will be partial credit for the multiple choice questions.
Multiple choice questions will be worth 3 points each.
3 points for correct answers if work is shown
1 point for correct answers if no work is shown
1 or 2 points in partial credit for incorrect answers if work is shown, depending on
the degree of correctness
The changes will begin spring 2015.
ITEM 3 MAT 0022/MAT 0056 – Adaptive MML Diagnostic
Gail and Zalmond are developing an adaptive based homework assignment in My
Math Lab for MAT 1033. Students would complete a diagnostic before each homework
assignment and the results would determine the number of questions assigned for that
section. The cluster discussed if MAT 0022/MAT 0056 should use an adaptive based
homework assignment. The cluster felt like the adaptive based homework would just be
assigning more homework problems. It would be great for an online course. Until it is
proven successful, the cluster chooses not to have an adaptive based homework
assignment.
ITEM 4 MAT 0056/MAT 1033 Combo
Gail would like to teach a MAT 0056/MAT 1033 Combo. The cluster agreed that it would
be fine for Gail to teach the combo. There would need to be a PERT cutoff score for
the combo.
