Test Blueprint 2025-26
Test Design Summary
This blueprint is for the assessment of the 2025 South Carolina College- and Career- Ready
Standards for Mathematics.
The assessment is not timed.
The assessment consists of 50 operational test items.
There will be additional field test items on the spring assessment.
For 2026 only: Due to an increased number of field test items, the Spring 2026
administration of SC READY Math Grades 3-5 will be administered in two sessions over
two days: Math Part A and Math Part B.
Test items cover a range of cognitive complexity levels and a range of difficulty levels.
Item types that may appear are included on the SC READY Mathematics Grades 3-5 Item Types
and Descriptions.
The South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Mathematical Process Standards are integrated
as part of the overall student expectations.
All linked and additional SC READY resources are available on the Assessment Quick Links for
Teachers page accessible via the “Educators” button on The South Carolina Department of
Education webpage.

What are the reporting categories for SC READY Mathematics?
The SC READY Mathematics assessment includes several reporting categories: Data, Probability, and Statistical Reasoning; Measurement, Geometry, and Spatial Reasoning; Numerical Reasoning; and Patterns, Algebra, and Functional Reasoning. Each category has specific indicators that assess student understanding and skills. For example, Grade 3 has 3 indicators in Data and Probability, while Grade 5 includes 4 indicators in the same category. The distribution of items across these categories helps ensure a comprehensive evaluation of student performance.
How many items are included in the SC READY Mathematics test?
The SC READY Mathematics assessment consists of 50 operational test items for Grades 3-5. Each grade level has a specific distribution of items across various reporting categories. For instance, Grade 3 includes 7-10 items for Data, Probability, and Statistical Reasoning, while Grade 5 has 8-10 items for the same category. This structured approach allows for a balanced assessment of students' mathematical skills and knowledge.
What cognitive complexity levels are assessed in SC READY Mathematics?
The SC READY Mathematics assessment evaluates students across different cognitive complexity levels. The Depth of Knowledge (DOK) levels range from 1 to 3, with a minimum of 15% to a maximum of 40% of items at DOK Level 1, which involves basic recall and understanding. Levels 2 and 3 assess higher-order thinking skills, with a minimum of 55% to a maximum of 85% at Level 2 and up to 10% at Level 3. This range ensures that the assessment measures both foundational knowledge and critical thinking abilities.
